Requirements
- Perform hands-on histology procedures, including tissue fixation, processing, paraffin embedding, microtomy, and slide preparation.
- Perform routine and special histological stains, including H&E, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF) assays, RNAscope, as applicable.
- Handle and process a variety of animal and human tissue types and biological specimens according to established protocols.
- Work closely with in vivo pharmacology team to support tissue evaluation.
- Troubleshoot tissue processing, sectioning, staining, and IHC-related issues and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, study documentation, sample tracking, and experimental data.
- Develop, optimize, and validate histology and staining protocols when required.
- Analyze and summarize histological findings and contribute to study reports, presentations, and scientific documentation.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Histology, Pathology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in histology/histopathology laboratory techniques.
- Strong practical experience with:
- Tissue fixation and processing
- Paraffin embedding
- Microtomy and tissue sectioning
- H&E staining
- Slide preparation and quality assessment
- Microscopic evaluation of tissue morphology
- Experience with special stains and/or immunohistochemistry (IHC) is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of tissue morphology, histological structures, and pathological changes.
- Ability to independently execute laboratory protocols and troubleshoot technical challenges.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to generating high-quality, reproducible data.
- Excellent documentation, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Experience / Education
- PhD or advanced degree with 0-2 years of experience
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills
- Need to be able to read, write and understand English at proficient level
- Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in an office environment with minimal noise conditions.
- Must be able to work in Lab setting with exposure to Animals/biohazards / Chemicals (List specific Chemicals)
- Must not have animal allergies to applicable species in this facility
- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
- Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels
- Ability to stand /Sit/walk for long periods of time
- Ability to Lift 10 lbs routinely
- Ability to crouch, bend, twist, and reach
- Ability to push/pull 10 lbs routinely/ often / occasionally
- Clarity of Vision
- Ability to identify and distinguish colors
- Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions
- Ability to climb Ladders / Stairs / Scaffolding
- Ability to work in variable temperatures high to freezing
- Inside/outside working conditions
Anticipated base pay range: $69,036 to $89,570
