Contribute to all aspects of clinical pathology conducted on nonclinical studies. Collaborate with Study Directors and Study Pathologists to provide comprehensive interpretation of hematology, coagulation, clinical chemistry, and urinalysis data, evaluate cytology of bone marrow and blood smears, and prepare the clinical pathology portions of reports.
Requirements
- Assist Study Directors in the interpretation of clinical pathology data and preparation of clinical pathology sections in the study reports.
- Serve as Study Clinical Pathologist or Principal Investigator; attend all key activities of preclinical studies regarding clinical pathology, evaluate hematology, coagulation, clinical chemistry, and urinalysis data, and write a comprehensive clinical pathology report.
- Examine bone marrow smears, blood smears, urine, body fluid, and other fluid preparations related to the studies.
- Collaborate with Anatomic Study Pathologists to ensure relevant and appropriate correlations and interpretation for clinical and anatomical pathology findings.
- Contribute to protocol development of research studies.
- Communicate with sponsors to answer questions and discuss results regarding the clinical pathology report.
- Provide expertise in method development and identification and evaluation of new instrumentation. Assist in expanding the array of clinical pathology assays.
- Conduct planned, long-term internal education and training
- Provide expertise and guidance to Clinical Pathology personnel with technical issues.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- DVM/VMD (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) degree or equivalent required. Ph.D. in Clinical Pathology or related discipline preferred.
- ACVP Board Certification in Clinical Pathology required.
- 3+ years of related experience in clinical pathology from contract research organizations.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
